Meet Our Pharmacists
Tom Beard, PharmD & Co-Owner, was raised in the state of Georgia, where he attended Emory University and graduated with a degree in Chemistry and Anthropology. He then moved to North Carolina and completed his Doctorate of Pharmacy degree at Campbell University School of Pharmacy. After graduating with the highest Honors he practiced Nuclear Pharmacy for three years. In 2003 Tom moved to Chattanooga to join the Solutions Pharmacy Family and was able to help Solutions Pharmacy become a compounding-only pharmacy. Tom enjoys working with doctors and patients to find customized medications that meet their needs. Tom believes that compounding pharmacies play a vital role in the healthcare of patients by providing medications they would not be able to obtain anywhere else. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Bethany and their three cats.
Bonnie Guhne, DPh grew up on the Canadian Prairies. She graduated with honors from the University of Saskatchewan, College of Pharmacy in 1997. She practiced retail pharmacy for three years before moving to Chattanooga, TN to take on the challenges of compounding. After more than a decade working for Solutions Pharmacy, she still finds excitement and new experiences in the field of compounding. In her free time, Bonnie loves to spend time with her husband, Steve, and her two daughters, enjoy the atmosphere of downtown Chattanooga and read.
Barry Bates, DPh, is a 1991 graduate of Auburn University, Harrison School of Pharmacy. He worked in retail pharmacy for 8 years; first with Harco Pharmacy in Alabama, then Winn Dixie Pharmacy in Chattanooga TN. He first started working in compounding under Don Talley at Lakeside Pharmacy in Chattanooga, then with Randy Davis at The Wellness Pharmacy. He then returned to his current position at Solutions Pharmacy (formerly known as Lakeside Pharmacy). In his spare time, Barry enjoys traveling with his wife Sisty to see his 2 sons, daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren. If he is not enjoying family time at home with his dogs, he is most likely out on the water, on a stand-up paddle board or windsurfing.
Katie Dyer, PharmD and Chief Operating Officer (COO), graduated from Samford University, McWorther School of Pharmacy in 2008. She began her career as the Pharmacy Manager at Publix Pharmacy in Ooltewah, TN. She routinely organized immunization clinics for employees and patients. As a trained Diabetes Educator, she provided lectures for her patients and the public on Diabetes, Food, and You. After building superior patient relationships at Publix for 4 years, she began working for Solutions Pharmacy in 2012 to challenge herself and become a more well-rounded pharmacist. Katie is an active outdoor enthusiast enjoying pickleball, softball, golf, and hiking with her dog. On her days off, Katie spends time with her niece and nephew and travels the world as a professionally sponsored pickleball player.
Stephen Wilson, PharmD & Pharmacist in charge of Solutions Pharmacy, has been in practice as a pharmacist since 2002 when he graduated magna cum laude from Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy. Stephen began his career as Pharmacist in Charge at Pulmonaire Pharmacy. He served on the Medical Board at Orange Grove Center and the Advisory Board at Prolex Medical Services. In 2012, Stephen was honored with the Community Leader of the Year Award of Excellence by the Tennessee Community Organizations for his work with developmentally disabled individuals in the Tennessee Valley. He then began working at a compounding pharmacy to expand his knowledge base and provide care to patients. A native of Cleveland, TN, Stephen lives in Apison with his wife Piper, son Cooper, and daughter Caroline. Personally, he enjoys spending time with his church family and working on the family’s Christmas tree farm.
April Heitmeier, PharmD, has been in practice as a pharmacist for 4 years. She graduated from the University of Houston, College of Pharmacy cum laude in 2007. Upon graduation, she began her career as a pharmacist for Kroger Pharmacy. While there, she became certified in immunizations and lipid screening. She administered immunizations and participated in community health fairs by providing lipid screening and counseling in the greater Houston area. In addition to her work as a retail pharmacist, she also gave presentations on psychotropic medications for adoptive and foster parents with McClaugherty Consulting Services. In 2009, she relocated to the Chattanooga area and began working for Solutions Pharmacy as a compounding pharmacist where she still practices today. Personally, she enjoys running, baking, and spending time with her son Hayden and husband Brandon.
